DAY 29 LOW-FAT, HIGH-CARB, 80/10/10 PATH TO HEALTH

Yesterday I was right on with my stats.  I realized that I do indeed need to log my food on Cron-o-Meter during the day to keep on track.  I also realized how wonderful and delicious dates are to simply eat!  I bought some Medjool dates at the co-op.  All I have to do if I am a bit over on my fat % is eat a date or two and it evens the stats adds calories and carbs and I'm good to go!  Plus they are caramely delicious and nutritious to boot!  Such wonderfulness in a tiny package.  Well worth the price per lb.  This year I'll order a small sampler from The Date People and give a report.

My history on dates:  As a 4 1/2 yr old we moved from Chicago Heights, Illinois to sunny Southern California.  Growing up in that environment was a trip!  My mom enjoyed short trips and we often traveled to the desert areas.  She would of course buy dates in Indio and the surrounding areas.  She also enjoyed cooking and baking. Especially during the holidays.  One year she made about 10 different date recipes.  I ate so many I got sick on them and didn't eat dates for about 30 years, just recently actually.  I am happy to say I enjoy them once again.

Yesterday I began yet again my walking at the mall.  I did one lap with one staircase.  I'm planning on building up to 4 laps and 4 staircases this week.  I'll blog each day about what I actually did.  Finding the time to exercise has always been a problem for me.  I rationalize that I already physically work every day.  That is stopping my progress of getting my body fat % down.  The rationalizing has to stop here and now.

What I ate:

Watermelon
ABC smoothie 9 cups.  1 cup blended with baby spinach for 2 cups of green smoothie
Fettuccini-Alfredo with Asparagus on Green Leaf Lettuce.
2 Medjool Dates
1 cup of Dr. Graham's Tomatoe-Basil Soup

My Cron-O-Meter stats:  2216 calories (yea!), 83% carbs/10% fats/7% proteins  Fiber: 76.5 grms, Sodium: 296.1 mgs.

My blessings for the day:  Market day!!!!  I love market day.
Sharing luncheon with friends.
Gifting mint and cinnamon basil clippings to friends.
Sharing pea shoot clippings with friends.
Being gifted some wonderful lettuce a friend of mine grew in her garden.
A beautiful 80 degree sunshiney day with nice breezes.
Rest and recuperation on a day off.
Time for knitting
Staying within my grocery budget

Yesterdays challenges:  Still fretting and worrying about finances and business.  Again, it is darkest before the dawn and I need to keep on plugging away and applying myself.
My car still didn't get washed.  I need this as a form of advertising for my cleaning business and it needs to be clean!  So this gets down today.
I tore some muscle fibre away from the inside of my rib cage last week.  Not a big deal but it is sore and will take time to heal.  I won't do that again hopefully!
I went shopping to find a well-made, sturdy and easy-to-use printer to replace one I bought last year that is a piece of sheit!  It shakes everytime it prints!

I hope you all had a healthy carb-filled day yesterday.  Watch those fats!!!  They are killers.  Track your food intake so you don't fly blind.

  1. I discovered dates due to my green smoothies. They told me to add one for sweetness so one day I ate one.......OMG they are so awesome. When I'm craving a sweet, I have a couple and they satisfy my sweet craving right then! Fruit doesn't always satisfy my sweet craving, but those babies do! Definately worth the $$$

  2. That is a great action, Tina. When we crave sweets always go for fruit and carb up. If craving salt green smoothies or vegies. I can hardly wait until The Date People start selling their samplers this year. I want a small one and there are so many varieties of dates to sample.

Have you ever watched how they harvest dates? It's thrilling for sure. They have a website and their youtube video. Watch it in awe.
